Here's a guide to what's going on in March, so you can plan ahead for this eventful month.
Friends of Literacy Bachelor Auction
Want to meet some of Knoxville's eligible bachelors?
The local Friends of Literacy group will host its annual Bachelor Auctionfrom 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Mill & Mine.

The event will feature an auction where guests can bid on dates with the 24 participating bachelors, who range in age from 23-63.General admission tickets cost $50 in advance and $60 at the door. VIP tickets are $75.

Young dancers start ensemble's 37th year
The Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble performs at 8 p.m March 2, and 2:30 and 8 p.m. March 3 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium, 500 Howard Baker Jr. Ave.
The young dancers’ performance opens the 37th season of the ensemble as they perform a series of contemporary dances. Tickets are $26 for adults, $13 for children at

The ensemble is made up of dancers ages 8 to 17. Eight choreographers as well as TCDE Director Irena Linn and Associate Director Amy Renee Wilson have created dances for the show. Dances include those set to Wilson’s environmentally-themed “What About Us?” and choreographer Jodie Brown’s “A NewDay,” dedicated to the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook ElementarySchool shooting in Newtown,Connecticut.
Harlem Globetrotters
The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their basketball skills to Knoxville at 3 p.m. March 4 at Thompson-Boling Arena.

'Hollywood's Night Out'
Regal Entertainment Group will roll out the red carpet for its "Hollywood's Night Out" event on at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at theRegal Corporate Office.
The event will feature a live screening of the 2018 Oscars,a silent auction andhors d’oeuvres fromSapphire, 5 Bar, Yassin’s Falafel House and Cinebarre, according to a press release from Regal.
Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased at Regal theaters in Knoxville. Proceeds from the event will benefitVariety – the Children’s Charity of Eastern Tennessee.
Jazz with Bond, James Bond
For its March Jazz Lunch @ The Square Room, the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra goes to the movies.

A pair of worldpremieres
Local arts groups present world premieres this month. There's opera and theater to see.
Marble City Opera presents the worldpremiere of the hour-long opera "FollowSuit" at 8 p.m. March9 and March 10.The opera by composerGriffin Candey and librettist and Knoxville nativeEmily Anderson will be performed at Windows on the Park at theHoliday InnDowntown, 525 Henley St.
Tickets are $25 for adults and$15 for students at marblecityopera.com. Told in English, the comedic opera is set in a hotel bar.
The Tennessee Stage Company'sNew Play Festivalpresents the world premiere of the play, "Acts of Love." TSC says the play by Paul Leeper offers "three unusual looks at love." Theshows will take place fromMarch 9-25.

It's a space circus
Dragonfly Aerial Arts goes "Outta Space" in its 7th AnnualCircus Extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. March 9, 2 and 7:30 p.m. March 10, and 2 p.m. March 11.

Double dose ofDisney
Disney fans will have options in March as two different shows will take placeat local venues.
The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will present Music of Disney: Tale as Old as Time at 8 p.m. March 10 at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. Dollywood opens
Dollywood will open for its 2018 Season of Showstoppers on Friday, March 16, with its annual Festival of Nations experience.
The event will go from March 16-April 9 andfeature performances fromthree groups who are new to Dollywood and internationally known. They include theNational Dance Company of Siberia, The Flamenco Kings starring Los Vivancosand Ladysmith Black Mambazo, according to a press release from Dollywood.

The park will have a new venue in 2018, the Plaza at Wilderness Pass, which will occupy the spot where the park's River Battle Ride was previously.
Discover the Dinosaurs
Discover the Dinosaurs: Time Trek will stomp and swim into Knoxville with interactive dinosaurand shark exhibits and activities.
The event will go from9 a.m.-7 p.m. March 17 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Knoxville Convention Center. Tickets cost $22 for adults and children, $17 for seniors, and children under 2 get in free with a paying adult.

A ballet about animals
The Appalachian Ballet Company's spring show "All About the Animals," featuring Peter and the wolf, dances at2 p.m. March 24. The performance by the Maryville-based balletis thespring show of its 46th season.
"All About the Animals" will be performed at the Clayton Center for the Arts,502 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville. Tickets for adults are $20 and $25 in advance; $25 or $30 at the door. Cat Fanciers cat show
The 41st annual Cat Fanciers cat show will bring kitty competitions to the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park on March 24 and 25.
The show will feature rescue groups with adoptable pets and more than 200 catscompeting in different events including an agility course with tunnels and obstacles. All cats are invited to enter the contests.

Knoxville Marathon
The Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon will offer runs of varying distances onMarch 24 and 25.
The event will feature a marathon, half marathon, 5K, two- and four-person relays and a kids run, which will all start at theClinch Avenue bridge in downtown Knoxville, according to the event's website.
The kids run will take place at 5:30 p.m. March 24, and the 5K will start at 7 p.m. March 24. The marathon, half marathon and relays will begin at 7:30 a.m. March 25.
Registration costs $95 for the marathon, $80 for the half marathon and two-person relay, $55 for the four-person relay, $45 for the 5K and $25 for the kids run. Knoxville Fashion Week
Knoxville Fashion Week will present four nights of fashion shows at downtown Knoxville venues from March 26-31.
A preview event will take place on March 26 at the Emporium, an emerging model runway show on March 28 anda hair and makeup show on March 29 at Relix Variety Theatre and a Grand Finale Show on March 31 at Jackson Terminal, according to a press release.
General admission five-day passes cost $195 and$295 for VIP. General admission single-day tickets are $45 and $75 for VIP.

'Dream of the Burning Boy' at UT
The play, "Dream of the BurningBoy," performs March 28-April 15 at the University of Tennessee Lab Theatre. The play tells how the death of a student affects people he's left behind. Aseven-member cast performs in aproduction that includes mature language and themes.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. March 28-31, April 3-7 and April 11-13; 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 8 and April 15.
