Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth brings back the original’s romance system as a new and revamped mechanic known as Bonds of Friendship. Amongst the ones you can romance is the shy, yet fierce brawler, Tifa Lockhart. In this FF7 Rebirth guide, we will help you say and do just the right things to win the heart of Cloud’s childhood friend and earn that Gold Saucer date with her!

The bonds of friendship mechanic does not affect any other gameplay or main story related events other than to determine your companion in the Gold Saucer and the dialogue between your companion that happens within Chapters 8 and 12.

How to Romance Tifa in FF7 Rebirth

There are multiple ways to increase Tifa's affinity with Cloud. To get the romance and intimate scenes with her, her "bonds" must be higher than they are with your other party members and above a certain score.

Tifa Conversations and Dialogue Options

These can be missable, so ensure you get them as you play. Most of the relationship affinity will be affected by the dialogue choices you choose when talking to your party members throughout the majority of the chapters.

Dialogue choices are measured with a ‘star system’, each dialogue valuing 1 star, 2 stars, and 3 stars respectively. (See All Dialogue Choices by chapter for every character here.)

Chapter 2 - A New Journey Begins

• Location: In the Mako Tank Plaza in Village Center, standing in front of the mako tank during Chapter 2 - A New Journey Begins
• Dialogue: "This tank remind you of anything?"

1. Best Choice (3 stars): 'The place I made that promise to you.’
2. Good Choice (2 stars): 'The water tower in Nibelheim.'
3. Worst Choice (1 star): 'Any other mako tank.'
   

Chapter 4: Dawn of a New Era

• Location: At the Inn, second floor, inside her room during Chapter 4 - Junon - Dawn of a New Era
• Dialogue: “Do you remember a guy named Emilio?”

1. Best Choice (3 stars): ‘Only person from the village I remember is you.’
2. Good Choice (2 stars): ‘The general store kid?’
3. Worst Choice (1 star): ‘No. Sorry.’

Chapter 6: A New Journey Begins

• Location: At the mini bar near the exit stairs of the beach, serving herself a drink during Chapter 6 - Fool's Paradise
• Dialogue: "Feels like it's been ages since Seventh Heaven."

1. Best Choice (3 stars): 'Lot's happened since then.'
2. Good Choice (2 stars): 'Wanna go back?'
3. Worst Choice (1 star): 'Hasn't been that long.'

Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs

• Location: Near the Shroom's house, follow the trail downs from the flower altar and she will be at the first house that appears.
• Dialogue: "What sorta thing would you go for?"

1. Best Choice (3 stars): 'Gonna go with pot roast'
2. Good Choice (2 stars): 'Pilaf, I guess'
3. Worst Choice (1 star): 'Soup's good'

Chapter 10: Watcher of the Vale

• Location: Part of the crowd
• Dialogue: "Did I sound as awkward as I felt?"

1. Best Choice (3 stars): 'You did good.'
2. Good Choice (2 stars): 'I felt for you.'
3. Worst Choice (1 star): 'You just gotta laugh it off.'

Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra

• Location: On the second floor of the treatment center, Tifa’s old house.
• Dialogue: "It was taking a toll... Then you turned up."

1. Best Choice (3 stars): 'Have I helped you get through it at all?'
2. Good Choice (2 stars): 'Like it was fate.'
3. Worst Choice (1 star): 'I never knew that.'

Chapter 4 - Dawn of a New Era

Inauguration Parade: You must get a higher score than the opposing team in all three formations. Your overall total score in order to win the parade must be of 101,000. This will also increase Aerith’s relationship status. See How to Get the Best Parade Performance Rating

Chapter 6 - Fool’s Paradise

Same Taste in Beach Wear: The outfit you choose for Cloud, must match either Tifa’s, Aerith’s, or both. For instance, if you choose the swimsuit set (Wild Surf) for Cloud, you must also choose the swimsuit set for both Tifa (Shining Spirit) and Aerith (Pink Mermaid). If you choose the casual set for Cloud(Ocean Chocobo), then you must choose the same for Tifa (Majestic Glamour) and/or Aerith (Floral Delight).

Costa del Sol Beach Fight Partner: Right before initiating the boss fight in Costa del Sol, you will have to choose between two parties, one with Tifa and Red XIII and the other with Aerith and Barret.

Chapter 12 - A Golden Key

Loveless: You must get a high score in order to raise the relationship status. If Tifa is your companion in Chapter 8 and you have a stronger affinity with her rather than Aerith, she will take the role of Rosa in the Loveless act.

Skywheel Date: Having a strong affinity with Tifa before Chapter 12 will have her accompany you throughout the Chapter and ultimately go on the Skywheel Date with her. If your bond is less than 50 percent or less than the light blue emoji with her, then the standard cutscene will play, otherwise, a light blue emoji or an affinity higher than 50 percent will trigger the Intimate scene.
